Move Past Ego, Think With Your Soul

Are you thinking with your ego or with your soul?

Egos, we all have them. And some waayyy more than others. But what is it’s purpose and why does it have such an impact on our lives?

Ego is what gives us our self-identify. It helps us perceive who we are to ourselves and to others in society.

For many of us that have been through trauma, our ego-driven thoughts are filled with negative self-talk. When your ego operates in this mode, it keeps us from moving forward.

However, what if you can catch yourself in the act of an ego-driven thought and decide to think with your soul instead?

Changing your mindset to think with your soul allows you to put your focus on healing.

EGO versus SOUL

EGO THINKING

  • Self-Esteem - As your Ego drives your self-identity, if you have been impacted by trauma, your self-esteem takes a hit. You tell yourself things such as "I’m not good enough, I’m not smart enough, I’m too fat, too ugly, too fill in the blanks.”

  • Judgment - Your ego defines the identity of others and your judgment becomes impaired as you compare yourself against others. Self-judgment and criticism is your default thinking and not only for yourself, but for others as well. You may feel less-than someone else in your comparison, or think you are better than someone else based on your default judgment.

  • Superficial - Ego surrounds itself with material things such as money, career or status. These things are superficial, but a value is placed on them to prove your worth.

  • Fear, Shame, Guilt and Regret thrive on ego thinking.

  • Ego, there’s no love behind it.

SOUL THINKING

  • God - We are all creatures of God, “I am perfectly imperfect, and I am good enough, I am smart enough, I have value”.

  • Love - I love myself as I love everyone around me. “I send love and compassion from a distance to those that harm me in the hope that they find love for themselves and others.”

  • The Universe - “We are all part of the Universe, brought together as human beings to experience Earth and learn together for the greater consciousness.”

  • Energy - “We are all energy beings and made up of love and light.”

So how do I use this practice? The next time you find yourself:

  • Critical of yourself or others

  • Judging yourself or others

  • Basing your value on something materialistic

Stop and ask yourself, “Am I thinking with my ego or with my soul?” Then change your thoughts to those of God, Love, The Universe and Energy and you can feel the shift almost immediately.

It’s a difficult task at first and may feel uncomfortable, but over time this becomes your default behavior.

Why not give it a try?
