We've all heard it before - Just be positive, everything happens for a reason, laugh it off.
I'm all about positivity and affirmations. I live that daily. BUT,
Mental illness is serious. I have had depression most of my life. You CAN'T just be positive - and someone going through a depressive cycle does not want to hear that.
What you CAN do is ask them what they need to support them. It's that simple. And then whatever they request, accommodate. Don't ask if you can't follow-through.
It could be to leave them alone.
It could be to listen.
It could be to hold them while they cry.
It could be to help them with errands and responsibilities.
