Perfume and Mental Health

by | Jul 26, 2020 | Mindful Shifts

I miss my perfume.

Each morning when I wake up I open my perfume draw to take my daily thyroid pills and admire my perfume. And I miss it.

You see, my perfume is one of the ways I support my mental health. How?

On the days when I need to walk into a high-powered meeting to do a presentation, I select Dolce & Gabbana – The One. It provides me that extra dose of strength I need for the situation.

When I feel my feminine side bursting, it’s Princess, by Vera Wang.

Other days it’s True Religion and when I need the support of my angels in a difficult situation I put on – you guessed it – Angel by Thierry Mugler.

The perfume I select is a game I play and another way I support my mindset for the day.

My collection is based on a mood, or a feeling – which is just as important as the scent itself.

Working at home, not going anywhere, it seems pointless to put on perfume. So I haven’t in months since our lockdown.

Today I realized I missed it. Another reminder of the situation we are in.

Yet today when I opened my drawer I also smiled. As there is hope that I will play that game again.

You see, it’s the little things we do for ourselves to support us through our days and keeps our mental health in check.

What do you do to support your mindset?
